Principal Function: The Minister of Music and Education will guide/lead the congregation in worship through music; direct the planning, conducting and evaluation of a comprehensive music program for the church; assist the pastor in planning and leading worship; assisting the church ministries in planning, conducting and evaluating comprehensive educational ministry.
Responsibilities and Duties;
- Live a life that is dedicated to Christ through daily Bible study, prayer and continued spiritual growth.
- Share the gospel of Jesus Christ and His love with others, int the church and in the world, through word and action.
- Direct the planning, conducting and evaluation of a comprehensive music and educational ministry..
- Direct the Music Committee in determining the music needs of the church when necessary.
- Enlist and train volunteers for the music program.
- Serve as an educational resource person to the leaders of church ministries; Sunday, School, Discipleship, and other ministries as requested.
- Plan, promote, and direct the church choir.
- Oversee children’s music programs.
- Assist the pastor in planning all worship services and worship programs of the church (including weddings, funerals, and other special services when requested).
- Give direction and assistance in contacting prospective members for music ministry recruitment.
- Give the choir the opportunity to share music in other churches or in the community when asked (Revival, or special service). This will be discussed as a choir and a decision will be made together (vote taken) to accept or decline.
- Oversee the budget for the music ministry and assist with developing a budget for the educational ministry.
- Develop and maintain an adequate record keeping system to track all educational and music materials.
- Encourage, direct, and promote participation in training events for the leaders of the ministries of the church.
- Serve on the Nominating Committee (as ex-officio member) to assist in the selection, and enlistment of workers for the educational ministries of the church, believing that every Christian is gifted for serving in the church and those gifts are to build up of the body of Christ.
- Serve on the Church Council.
- Serve as VBS Director.
- Work with other staff and assist in providing help in growing the educational opportunities for children through adults which includes providing continuing education, conferences, and training.
- Oversee a security program for children and students (coordinating with the Minister of Children, Minister of Students, security team and volunteer leaders).
- Encourage outreach, through Sunday School classes, to unchurched persons, and in-reach to members who are sick, absent, or need a special contact – visit or phone call.
